Outcomes

What Learning Becomes.

From experience to capability.

Education should leave young people with more than knowledge of what they have studied.
It should leave them with a growing ability to think, act, communicate, create, lead and contribute.
At LBSC, outcomes are not defined simply by what a learner completes.
They are reflected in what they can do, what they have experienced, what they can demonstrate and how prepared they are for what comes next.

THE LBSC VIEW OF OUTCOMES

The real measure is what a young person can do with what they have learned.

A certificate can record participation.
A qualification can demonstrate academic achievement.
A transcript can show what was studied.
All of these have value. But they do not tell the whole story.

At LBSC, we are interested in the development that happens alongside them.

These are outcomes of capability.

THE LBSC VIEW OF OUTCOMES

Developing Young People Who Are Ready for More.

Our experiences are designed to help young people develop across six broad areas:

THINKING

Critical thinking, judgement, problem-solving and independent thought.

LEADERSHIP

Communication, collaboration, responsibility, initiative and influence.

ENTERPRISE

Creativity, opportunity recognition, value creation and entrepreneurial thinking.

TECHNOLOGY & AI

Digital confidence, technological understanding, responsible use and creation.

GLOBAL INTELLIGENCE

Cultural awareness, international collaboration, perspective and understanding.

LIFE & WORK

Adaptability, confidence, professional awareness, decision-making and practical readiness.

These are not separate boxes. They increasingly work together.

CAPABILITY

Knowledge is the foundation. Capability is the goal.

LBSC seeks to help young people move through a progression:

Knowledge

Understanding

Experience

Application

Capability

A learner may know something.

Then they experience it.
They try to use it.
They discover what works — and what does not.
They reflect.
They improve.
Over time, they become more capable.

That is the development we care about.

EXPERIENCE

Young people should have something real to show for their learning.

Learning experiences should create evidence.

A challenge completed.

A project developed.

A presentation delivered.

A problem investigated.

An enterprise idea explored.

A team led.

A technology solution created.

An international collaboration undertaken.

A reflection written.

Where specialist services are required — including transport, accommodation, venues, specialist activities or other travel-related services — we work with appropriate specialist partners.
These experiences become part of a learner’s development — and, where appropriate, part of their LBSC Global Portfolio™.

LEADERSHIP

Developing Leaders Before They Have a Job Title.

Leadership should not begin when someone receives a formal position.
Young people can begin developing leadership through responsibility, collaboration, communication, decision-making and action.
We therefore create opportunities for learners to practise:

Taking initiative.

Working with others.

Making decisions.

Communicating ideas.

Taking responsibility for outcomes.

Learning from mistakes.

Leadership is something to practise, not simply something to study.

Work & future readiness

Preparing for the World Young People Are Actually Entering.
The transition from education into work can expose a gap between what someone has learned and what they have had the opportunity to practise.
LBSC seeks to help narrow that gap.
Through real-world challenges, employer encounters, projects, enterprise, technology and Future Pathways, learners can begin developing a clearer understanding of:
The aim is not to promise a job. It is to help young people become better prepared to pursue one.

Life readiness

Success is bigger than a career.
Young people are preparing for life as well as work. That means developing the confidence and judgement to navigate:

decisions

relationships

money

responsibility

setbacks

uncertainty

change

opportunity.

We want young people to develop the capacity to keep learning, make thoughtful decisions and take increasing ownership of their future.
Education should prepare young people for the life they will actually live.

Global intelligence

The world is bigger than one classroom.
Young people increasingly need to work across cultures, perspectives and borders. Through international collaboration and global experiences, LBSC seeks to develop learners who can:

understand different perspectives

communicate across differences

collaborate internationally

engage with global issues

appreciate cultural context

participate confidently in a connected world.

Global readiness is not simply knowing more about the world. It is knowing how to engage with it.

SCHOOL OUTCOMES

When young people grow, schools grow too.

The value of LBSC extends beyond individual learners.
For schools, the Network and wider LBSC ecosystem can provide opportunities to:
We help schools give their students access to more of the world.

EMPLOYERS & UNIVERSITIES

Connecting Capability With the Wider World.

Young people benefit when education and the world beyond education understand one another.
LBSC creates opportunities for employers and universities to engage with young people through:

challenges

projects

mentoring

future pathways

showcases

international experiences.

This creates a more meaningful connection between education, capability and opportunity.
For employers and universities, it also creates opportunities to see young people engaging with problems, ideas and experiences beyond conventional academic settings.

IMPACT & PROGRESS

What We Measure Matters.

LBSC is interested not simply in how many young people participate, but in what they experience and what develops as a result. Over time, we will look at evidence across areas such as:

Participation.

Experience.
Engagement.
Capability.
Leadership.
Progression.
Contribution.
Opportunity.
The purpose is not to reduce a young person’s development to a single score.
It is to understand whether our experiences are genuinely helping young people become more capable and more prepared.

THE OUTCOME WE ARE WORKING TOWARDS

The Leaders the World Actually Needs.

Ultimately, LBSC is not trying to create young people who simply perform well within education.
We want to help develop young people who are increasingly able to:

Think for themselves.
Work with others.
Solve unfamiliar problems.
Communicate ideas.
Create value.
Use technology intelligently.
Navigate the wider world.
Take responsibility.
Lead with purpose.
Adapt when circumstances change.
Keep learning.
And turn what they know into something useful.

Because the world does not only need people who are qualified. It needs people who are capable.

Don't Just Ask What They Learned. Ask What They Can Do.

The most meaningful outcome of education is not simply what remains on a certificate. It is what remains in the person.

The knowledge. experience. confidence. judgement. skills. perspective. evidence. capability.
That is what we mean by outcomes at LBSC.
